Laser therapy is an effective way to treat your acne scars. Medical lasers have been used for over 20 years to treat many medical and cosmetic skin conditions safely and effectively.
Our laser treatment for acne scarring employs a patented LASRT (laser assisted skin renewal) process to safely target and heat collagen in the upper dermis, stimulating new collagen formation. New collagen can improve the appearance of atrophic acne scars by reducing the depth and softening the edges of the scar.
Q. What is Acne ?
Skin disorders, such as acne can be irritating and embarrassing . acne (also known as pimples and blackheads ) is the most common skin problem and is the number one reason worldwide for a visit to a dermatologist. In most men, acne is worst during teenage years and then subsides. In women, menstruation flares acne, which follows into teenage years and then into adulthood. If left untreated, acne leads to the formation of small pockmark- like scars, which are then permanent.
This cosmetic disfigurement has to be then lived with throughout life. Also , the presence of unseemly acne during teenage years leads to emotional and social trauma, which hampers self-confidence .
Symptoms
Blackheads
Crusting of skin eruptions
Cyst
Inflammation around the skin eruptions
Pustules
Redness around the skin eruptions
Scarring of the skin
Whitehead
Q How is it caused ?
Our face and back contain a large number of hair follicles which are associated with sebaceous glands. These sebaceous glands produce sebum (an oily fluid), which is secreted out to the skin through a passage called the infundibulum. Under ordinary and happy circumstances, the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands is secreted to the skin through open pores on the skin .
however , in not-so- happy circumstances , a plug (blockage) forms in the infundibulum from cells, sebum, bacteria and other debris. The sebaceous gland continues to produce sebum, stretching the infundibulum until either it or some lower portion of the follicle ruptures. Acne lesions results from the rupture of a sebaceous follicle, followed by inflection by acne bacteria commonly found on the skin , leading to inflammation and pus (a whitehead) .
they also result from the accumulation of plugged material in the sebaceous follicle ( a blackhead). This pathophysiology has two major requirements- an increase in sebum production or the plugging of the upper portion of the infundibulum.
Q. What do I need to do before treatment ?
Your skin should be thoroughly cleaned to remove any makeup, creams or oils on its surface before the laser procedure. You should avoid sun exposure for two weeks before and after the laser treatment.
Q. What will the treatment be like ?
Treatment will take place at our comfortable Wellness Evolution offices. You will wear safety eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser light. The laser will be guided to the treatment areas with a small handheld probe. Each laser pulse is preceded by a short pulse of cooling spray. Depending on the size of the treated area, sessions last from 10 to 20 minutes.
Q. How many treatments will I need ?
After the first session, you will be seen for a follow-up evaluation. The number of subsequent treatments depends on the anatomical location of the scars, their depth, and the desired results. Treatments may be performed every three to five weeks.
Q. What can I expect after treatment ?
Mild redness is usually seen immediately after the procedure and typically subsides in a few hours. Some patients report seeing improvement in their scars after a few treatments. Results vary with each patient; we encourage you to discuss your expectations with your practitioner.

Benefits
Laser acne treatments offer a zero down-time approach to helping clear acne lesions and help reduce the severity of future break-outs. Immediately after the treatment you can return to work or school immediately - a slight facial redness will be the only side effect. Laser acne removal treatments do not have the side effects seen with oral and topical therapy. Laser acne removal treatments DO NOT cause any prolonged dryness, severe redness to the area treated or any kind of mental depression.
Q. Are there risks or side-effects ?
Medical lasers have been safely used for more than 20 years to treat medical and cosmetic skin conditions. In general, most procedures have a low risk of side effects. More aggressive treatments might induce some temporary discoloration or reddening of the skin. Some patients might experience slight changes in skin color. If this occurs, the skin will typically return to normal pigmentation over time.
