The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata offers comprehensive services to women with the support of other disciplines. The department is staffed by three full time consultants. There is a dedicated maternity wing with individual labour rooms where the labouring women can have support from her near relatives.Pain relief in labour is available in the form of Etonox (analgesic gas) and epidural analgesia.
The labour ward complex has a dedicated operation theatre. Registrars provide 24 hrs cover on-site under direct consultant supervision. Anesthetists with special interests in Obstetric Anesthesia, Paediatricians with neonatal care experience and a fully equipped state of the art Neonatal Intensive care Unit are part of support services. The department also offers Teleconsultation with video conferencing.
