The treatment of Cancer is no longer in the realms of a single discipline and is now multi disciplinary in nature, wherein various specialists dealing with Cancer, i.e., Surgical, Medical and Radiation Oncologists use their years of experience and decide on the line of treatment for cancer patients. They are supported by Radiologist, histopathologists and an excellent blood bank. To ensure collective wisdom and teamwork to fight cancer a Tumor Board has been constituted which meets twice weekly to decide on the initial line of treatment and to review cases in order to give the best to the Cancer patients.
The surgical oncology team is performing complex surgical procedures at minimum morbidity and affordable cost, which are Breast Cancer, Head & Neck Cancer, Gastro-intestinal cancers, Urological and gynecological cancers, Thoracic cancers, Bone and soft tissue cancers.

The use of chemotherapy is an important adjuvnt in the treatment of cancer. These drugs are toxic and have to be handled with care. The center has trained specialists dealing with chemotherapy. As a large number of cancers are of hematological origin, facilities for pheno typing of leukemia, immuno-histochemistry for differential diagnosis of lymphoma are available.

A large number of cancer cases require Radiotherapy at some stage or the other. This department will be equipped with two state-of-the-art Linear Accelators with one giving a high-energy radiation and the other designed for giving Stereotactic Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery.
The CLINAC-21 EX high energy, specially designed Linear Accelator will have a Multi Leaf Collimator and a 3 D treatment planning system. This fully automated and computerized system will provides 3 D Conformal Radiotherapy. With the help of Multi Leaf Collimator the dose distribution will be limited to the target volume only and minimize damage to the neighbouring organs and structures.
The sophisticated technology of CLINAC-600 SR with the help of Micro Multi Leaf Collimator and the availability of dynamic conformal technique will be instrumental in providing highly effective treatment to the targeted area in the form of stereo tactic radiotherapy and radiosurgery. This will primarily be meant for regions of the brain but with the help of the new software it is being extended to the whole body.
It will also be helpful in non-cancer cases Arteriovenous malformations of the brain. angiomas and certain functional brain disorders.
The dosage, target and the volume calculation will be done by the latest method of virtual simulation. In this the CT and MRI images are captured directly from the machine on a computer and with the help of treatment planning software the treatment will be planned and the various areas outlined. Precise patient positioning is done through laser alignment. This will be the second of its kind in India.
