Dr. Intezar Mehdi completed his DNB ( Paediatrics) in 2005 and MRCPCH (UK)in 2008. He has trained in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in a tertiary hospital at Riyadh -King Saud Medical Complex (Formerly known as Riyadh Medical Complex- the biggest hospital under Ministry Of Health, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). He has been practising in the field of Paediatric Hematology and Oncology for more than 5 years. He came back to India with a vision of developing this rare subspeciality with a motive to serve the people and the country.
He is a Consultant in Paediatric Hematology/Oncology and Blood & Bone Marrow Transplant at HCG. His areas of interest include Paediatric hematology- Anemias in children, Thalassemias, Sickle cell anemias and other Hemoglobinopathies, AIHA, Aplastic anemia, ITP, Platelet disorders, Hemophilia, VWD, Thrombotic disorders and other bleeding disorders. He has special vision to provide the best level of care to children with thalassemias/sickle cell anemias/ hemophilias and offer curative option with transplant whenever feasible for thalassemias and other diseases. Hematological malignancies-Leukemias in children (ALL, AML), Lymphomas, Histicocytosis syndromes in childhood. This is a area where he has enormous experience and motivation to do the best for children in whom the outcome has continued to improve with chemotherapy and supportive care with/without radiation therapy and transplant. Paediatric Oncology area includes CNS tumors, Bone tumors, Wilms tumor, Neuroblastoma, Sarcomas and other solid tumors in children. His interest includes Autologus and Allogenic blood and bone marrow transplant for hematological and oncological malignancies which he has been doing successfully for the last few years.
He has been an active member of many Paediatric societies in India as well as abroad (IAP, SCFHS and RCPCH, UK). He is also a member of Paediatric hematology/oncology chapter (IAP) and Paediatric Hematology/Oncology group, Bangalore. He has delivered lectures and presentations in many conferences and has been part of research in India and abroad with publications as well.
